Professor Dilip Kumar Pal

There were many good things Dr Albert as VC sought to achieve and we had been all-praising of his initiatives. As a counsellor throughout his regime, I personally stood by him.

Regrettably things changed for the worse at the last phase, when professionals were ignored and fiercely ambitious, poor calibre individuals started calling the shots. The unfortunate part was flatterers started ruling the roost and the professionals were choked.

I fully agree, post Albert, the university has gone to worse hands. Stooges and cronies have a field day because the academic credentials of the person at the helm beggars description.

Feeling really sorry, I don't see things getting better at any time in the foreseeable future. Our aspiration to establish a regime of meritocracy remains a pipe dream.

With no light at the end of the tunnel, I preferred to call it a day and left PNG with a feeling that my 12 years of dedicated service got wasted.
