The Island is Calling
31 August 2018
The island is calling
for your return
The waves are beckoning
to hold your hand
Over the calm water
when she is sleeping
Under the weather
when I am praying
The sand will be joyous
to walk with you again
The birds will be curious
to see a boy now grown
The sand crabs and acacia
will be awaiting your return
The palms will surely shudder
of the thought of a girl grown
The island is calling
for your return
The water is swelling
to see you again
Thank you Michael and Phil for your comments, much appreciated. Keith, thank you for the outstanding pic, the image of an island do sometimes conjure in me this fantastic imagery of magic, beauty and mystery. Phil glad you made a connection.

I agree Michael, it's a superb poem.
I once sat on that beach in the photograph eating crab and staring at the crystal clear water. A magnificent place.
