Class of 1967-68

With a reunion looming at Maroochydore on 18-19 October, organiser David Weeden says seven of this CEO group are proving very hard to find:

- Ron Ruitenschild, Bruce Marshall and Yvonne Hill

- Peter Fanning (in recent years apparently working in Darwin)

- Simon Van Der Walk (in Canberra years ago but not heard of since)

- Janet Robb (was running a Salvation Army Rehabilitation Centre in Mt Isa a few years ago)

- Janice Robinson (Frappe) last heard of living in Sydney

Gordon Brown

In 1964 Gordon Brown led a patrol on Fergusson Island for the 1964 Election. Noel Ryan was seconded to the patrol from his work as a teacher. Noel recently I found a photo of Gordon in Colin Simpson's 'Islands of Men' (published 1955) that he came across in an op shop and he’s wondering if anyone knows how to contact Gordon, who would be in his eighties.

Ribung Ilu

Robert Ilu works with Air Niugini in Port Moresby. His father was a Field Officer in the Department of District Administration and is now Deputy President of the Tewae-Siassi Council. Ribung has not been too well of late and would like to hear from some of his friends from the past, namely:

     Madang -  Mike Gough, who was in Madang - originally from NZ and departed PNG in 1977. His father was  a  correctional Service officer at Vanimo.

     Cathy Brown of Sydney, wife of a Dr Brown - previously of Wau-Lae, Tari and Wewak.

     Peter Farrey - retired Australian Army Major and ex kiap; last known to be in Bahrain

     Allan Ross, Brian Duffy, Fred Heins and Rod Ford, all of who were in Wewak

Dr Dick Mead

Newman Ewada is seeking information about a doctor named Dick Mead, who was living in the Higaturu area around the time of World War II. It was reported that he survived the war and Newman would appreciate any information on him and his activities.

Erica Ardill

Rob Mahoney was recently browsing through this website when he noticed the name Erica Ardill. Rob says a girl of this name was in his class at Enoggera state school in Brisbane in the mid to late fifties, and he wonders if our Erica is the same person.

Frank Hiob

Frank trained at Bathurst and ASOPA and taught at Goroka Technical School. He ‘went finish’ in January 1961 after we made done a trip to Dutch New Guinea, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Later he returned to PNG after I returned to Australia at the end of 1961 and I lost touch with him.

Geoff Lawson

I am trying to make contact with Geoff Lawson who was headmaster at Langendrowa, Manus, in the sixties and would have been known to my father, John Quinnell, who was headmaster at Loamat in Manus around the same time. I noticed a couple of references to Geoff on various ASOPA webpages and thought it might be the same one. Any help would be most appreciated.
