Papua New Guineans should know many credible national leaders over the years have been former broadcasters and journalists - Sevese Morea, Kindi Lawi, Raphael Doa and many others.

And of course Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, who has just retired from a life-time of service to the people.

The media fraternity know they are the voice of the voiceless, the earpieces and the mouthpieces of the illiterate masses.

The media opens their eyes and ears and gives the people the chance to make right choices in life.

I suggest, EMTV take off those impressive campaign advertisements and reimburse their dirty money.

Since both major newspapers in PNG long ago surrendered to vested interests EMTV has emerged as one of the few general media sources that is at least half objective.

In doing so it has made itself a target for those vested interests, particularly during the run-up to the elections.

Expect more harassment and attempts to muzzle it.
