Thank you Bernard, I believe the Foot family contributed immensely to British history, politics and aristocracy life. The Foot Mission and Foot Report is, and will always be, the defining moment and document that set the path for PNG's political independence. Personally, I do not know if there is a copy or copies of this important historical document archived within PNG.

Hi Raymond,
Sir Hugh Foot was a brother of Michael Foot, who I have mentioned previously on this site. Michael was the architect behind the reform of health and safety legislation in the UK following the horrific Aberfan disaster, which occurred almost 50 years ago on 21/10 /1966 and killed 144 people, mostly infants.
The entire family were true socialists and members of the Fabian society. Paul Foot, a nephew, wrote many articles for the satirical UK magazine Private Eye and uncovered the truth behind the Lockerbie plane disaster.
Michael Foot was often pilloried by the UK media as a scatter-brained geriatric fool but he was one of the most intellectual politicians that the UK ever produced.
