Good politicians are indeed a rare commodity and several that spring to mind from the UK include Aneurin Bevan, Michael Foot, Tony Benn, Barbara Castle and Anthony Crosland.
The US had Adlai Stevenson, Dean Acheson and Ralph Nader
The best prime minister Australia never had was Kim Beasley.
What about PNG? My late brother enjoyed Iambakey Okuk. Are there any others worth mentioning?

Finding a good politician is like identifying an edible mushroom in a cornucopia of fungus feasting on rotting vegetation. You better know what you're looking for because your life may depend on it.

Emi olsem kindam - het bilongem igat pekpek.

All of the above, irrespective of the candidate. If perchance you come across a good politician, shoot him before he turns bad.
