It would have been honourable to have a state funeral service for this great man either in Port Moresby or Eastern Highlands province as a sign of appreciation for his vital contributions to his adopted country.

His people in the EHP, friends and admirers in this country will mourn for some time. The people of Kainantu especially owe a lot to him. Rest in peace Sir Barry.

People cannot slough like the snakes and live a second time on earth. We are all mortal beings and Holloway has lived his life but the important thing is he has made a huge contribution to the birth of Papua New Guinea and life after. Unfortunately for PNG, it has lost more servant leaders as the clock ticks on and now stormed into the scenes are more self-centered capitalism made leaders charting a new course for hoarding and wrecking. Altruists like Holloway will winch in his grave when wreckers destroy this country.

Sir Barry was a great man and he leaves behind a legacy of accomplishments.

The Coffee Research Institute in Aiyura Valley and the University of Goroka in Eastern Highlands to name a few are some of his lifetime's work.

He came a close second in the 2012 Eastern Highlands Regional seat and many especially of the older citizens voted for this exceptional leader.

Mountbatten facilitated the partition of India, and Holloway did a lot to facilitate PNG independence. I'll leave to the judgement of history as to how wise they were!

Barry Holloway was a great Papua New Guinean. We shall miss him.
