It is always interesting to find reasons to the 'why' question in any situation to explain how it happened.

As rational beings we have to be critical and be constructive in our analysis of such issues.

Competion is so complex in today's world of politics. The motive behind competition as I see it is for power and resources / wealth.

Advice to all that the big giant is creeping in as a colourful butterfly to pollinate in Asia Pacific.

Let the battle begin.

The authority of the Pacific Island nations must not be influenced by power but stand firm and transparent in handling critical issues.

When negotiating projects etc do it for the best interest of your country and not to be blinded by money for personal interest and sell the birthright of your country.

Mind you Big fish are on the race to capture the natural wealth of the struggling.

Hmmm, looks like Francis Hualupmomi was on to something after all...

I find it amusing that the LA Times has only just discovered the Cook Islands and regards the PIF as 'obscure' and sees fit to characterise the place as remote, insignificant and unworthy of attention.

Bloody arrogant yanks. I'm sure the nearby Solomon's were regarded as similarly unworthy until a certain eastern power invaded in 1942.
