It is not really clear whether poverty is driving child labor in Urban areas. I think the main cause would be EDUCATION and URBAN drift.
See, today many Papua New Guineans drift to urban centers in search for better education and job opportunity to sustain their families.
However, they do not realize that living in such urban ares is so much expansive.
And with the governments so called "free education" and limited schools available to cater for all these children, they are then left on the streets to find ends meat.
We may blame "poverty" for forcing this poor little ones on the streets but I believe that if only there were enough job opportunities and more schools then this children would not be wondering off in the streets like that.

it is contridicting for me to say PNG is a very rich nation, but yet saying that poverty is driving child labour in PNG. It is clear and simple, greed and pride has taken over everything that supposed to be uused for everyone. PNG, Lets see the other way around.
