HORNSBY ADVOCATE (Sydney)
POOR AND DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN in Papua New Guinea now have a basic school building to hold classes in, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Cherrybrook (Sydney) resident Dennis Perry.
The Operation Food For Life co-founder, who recently returned from a trip to PNG, said the new building was not state-of-the-art, but it was appropriate for the village and the setting.
The children, who are taught by a volunteer, were previously meeting under a house, Mr Perry said. Books and educational resources have also been donated.
“When you witness first-hand the smiles and happiness of both children and adults, and their lives being changed for good, they lift you and inspire you to do more,” he said.
