The night faded away as dawn crept in
The eastern sky showing promise of a fine day
The silent breeze swept down the hillside,
as the silence was shattered by loud wailing
Words full of remorse, loss and helplessness
So painful and heart wrenching
bringing back memories best forgotten
The heartbreaking sobs of a new widow
Full of pain and anguish at been deserted
To lose a parent, a child or a sibling time healed
To lose a partner, someone whom you confided
in, shared and cried with, from the deepest to
the darkest of secrets known only to you
It was pain that held no boundaries.
Amidst the murmurs and words of comfort
The heartbroken cry of a mother at loss for words
Broken with the pain of losing a child whom she bore
Shattered at the fact that she lived to see him pass on
It only seemed like yesterday,
that she had cradled him in her arms,
Yet it was a life time ago
As the sun rose like a great ball of fire in the east
Mourners came in numbers to mourn
From far & wide people came
to pay their last respects
Some to a man they knew all their lives
Some to a man they barely knew
Yet he had been a part of their lives.
As the sun set in the horizon,
Rocking to and fro heavily burdened with the loss
The old woman tears rolling down her weathered cheeks
Silently lamenting to herself
‘As you paddle away to the sunset, those gone before
You silently beckoning you, won’t you turn back?
and take a last look at those, you left behind,
have you no pity for those you left????
Like a thief in the night death had struck again
Leaving homes shattered and hearts broken,
Families incomplete and children parentless.
