Blatchford Collection now on site

Loch Thanks to Loch Blatchford [shown here deeply embedded in his own filing system] we have been able to post the first tranche of summaries of the Blatchford Collection of documents and other material on the development of public education in PNG. You can find the new section in ASOPA People Extra at left. The Blatchford Collection section will be added to as Loch continues to summarise the contents of his extensive archive of materials.

Nice stuff. Great collection and an invaluable resource for future researchers.

I note that Dick Arnold thought I was on a holiday during my uni days and offer the following anecdote in support of my work ethic.

Eight MEd students studied History of Education under Cliff Turney at Sydney University. Each week Cliff would have a student bring a cask of wine (or was it flagons in those days), and some cheese and bikkies, to help informalize the tutorials.

Problem was that the females did not drink and one of the blokes had a Japanese bladder. This left me, Cliff and one other student to soldier on.

Eventually the females took exception to our behaviour and when it was one woman's turn to provide the beverages she presented us with lolly water. The next week it was another female's turn, and she too provided lolly water. Fearing such an eventuality, the blokes had independently decided to bring emergency supplies. I can't remember much after that.
